Summer Science Academy

ALMA Scholars show their artwork from the Summer Science Academy. Students studied models of the food chain, marine life, and how our planet is being affected by pollution and climate change. Field trip to the Ocean Institute.

The ALMA Summer Enrichment program follows in the footsteps of the ALMA Science Academy (Elementary Program) by supplementing Santa Ana students’ STEM education. This 4-week summer program focuses on STEM application to the environment and community. The curriculum helps students study the connection between the ocean ecosystem, climate change, environmental pollution in our community and social determinants of health. The program also partners with the Ocean Institute in Dana Point. During the summer, students attend a field trip to their marine facility in Dana Point. As a result, students think about the environment and their role in their community to solve issues around them.
