GREEN-MPNA is dedicated to advancing policy and systems change that supports environmental justice as a key public health issue. Our approach involves empowering residents through leadership development and ongoing programs and partnerships that enhance community capacity and improve health outcomes in Orange County. Through civic engagement, GREEN-MPNA promotes youth educational opportunities, health equity, safe & clean environments, and community empowerment.
GREEN MPNA Pillars
GREEN advances health equity by expanding access to wellness programs, health education, and culturally responsive resources that reduce disparities and support physical, mental, and community well being.
GREEN empowers youth through education, mentorship, and leadership opportunities that build confidence, strengthen skills, and encourage civic engagement while supporting lifelong learning.
GREEN builds community power through leadership training, building our resident leadership to amplify civic participation while changing the narrative of the Madison Park community in support of a welcoming and safe community for all residents.
GREEN promotes safe and clean environments by advancing environmental justice policies, advocates for improved public recreational spaces, and works in partnership with local organizations and universities to improve community health.
GREEN-MPNA was formed over twenty years ago by neighbors and residents working to improve the collective well-being of Santa Ana’s Southeast neighborhood, Madison Park, alongside the surrounding neighborhoods throughout the City of Santa Ana.
Throughout its rich history in the Madison Park neighborhood, GREEN-MPNA led meaningful and long-lasting community collaborations with local schools in the Santa Ana Unified School District in support of youth development. GREEN has also been steadfast collaborators with the City of Santa Ana, inviting continued efforts to expand safe and clean environments within city policies that support health lifestyles and green spaces for all of Santa Ana. In our most recent work, we have developed deep relationships with university partners that have expanded our community research and citizen science work for our Community Air Monitoring network. We are grateful and appreciative of all our partners in the City of Santa Ana, University of California, Irvine (UCI), University of California, Los Angeles, California State Fullerton as well as the various foundations, private donors, and other non-profits that have made our community work possible.
In the last five years, GREEN-MPNA has made strides in developing safe and clean environments that prioritize community leadership through community informed research partnerships, offering learning opportunities to youth and adults in our local neighborhoods. We are excited to bring these to life as we move into a new chapter in GREEN-MPNA’s history.
GREEN-MPNA seeks to ensure that our communities will continue to thrive through our four community pillars: Youth Initiatives, Health Equity, Safe and Clean Environments, and Community Empowerment. Our community pillars engage residents of all ages and provides opportunities for civic engagement and leadership development for Santa Ana residents. Most importantly, our pillars allow for unique opportunities to build a deep love for our communities and long lasting relationships within the City of Santa Ana.
We invite you to share your valuable time, unique talents and/or monetary resources to support our youth, families and community!
