ALMA Middle School Program
The ALMA Middle School Program (MSP) initiative is the latest development in the pipeline from elementary school to college for the Santa Ana community. Starting as a pilot in 2017, the program runs concurrently with the ALMA Science Academy and focuses on engineering and technology. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are exposed to STEM content through various projects and book club meetings.
Students are given Chromebooks and 3D printers to bring their ideas to life and test them. This is the students’ chance to use new technology currently changing our world and to think critically about how to design and shape their ideas for a specific purpose.
HOW TO Sign Up:
Scholars in grades 6, 7, and 8 are recruited from Intermediate schools in Santa Ana. Creating a pipeline of involvement, previous ALMA Science Academy students who are now in 7th-8th grade are also recruited. Scholars will be required to turn in applications two weeks before the start of the program and attend an orientation on the first class session.
All meetings are hosted at Madison Elementary School on Saturdays, All programming follows the SAUSD and UC/CSU Calendar.
