THE DR. ZALDIVAR ALMA Science Academy

and Mentorship Pipeline

Aspire, Learn, Mentor & Achieve (ALMA) Science Academy is a STEM education and mentorship program for under-resourced Santa Ana youth grades 4-6. The ALMA Science Academy is a year-long program divided into two sessions, Fall and Spring.

The first session is focused on learning technology and engineering, and the second session builds understanding of biology, health and medicine. Both sessions delve deeper into STEM subjects within the context of global climate change and community education with educational standards set by the State of California Board of Education and Santa Ana Unified School District.

The program is made possible through mentorships/collaboration with UC Irvine undergraduates, UCLA undergraduates, UC Irvine medical and graduate students, the Health Scholars Program (HSP),  UCI Medical Center faculty and staff, and the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD).
