Abstract:
This research uses radioisotope lead signatures to trace the historical sources of soil lead contamination in Santa Ana, California. By analyzing isotopic ratios, the authors identify contributions from legacy sources like leaded gasoline and industrial emissions versus more recent inputs, providing insight into spatial patterns of soil lead burdens in environmental justice communities. These findings help interpret soil contamination data and inform targeted remediation and public health actions in affected neighborhoods.
